NASCRとはNational Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, Inc.の略称です。以前にご紹介したINDYはタイヤが剥き出しのレースカーでしたが、NASCRが主に主催するのはStock Car Racingという分野。市販車をベースにしたレーシングカーですので、INDYのレーシングカーよりは親近感が持てるのではないでしょうか？
22歳となった2002年にNASCARのNationwaide Seriesに参戦し、2003年シーズンの後半からNASCARのSprint Cup Seriesにも参戦。この時に乗っていたのが「＃9 Dodge」という車で、2004年にはNextel Cup SeriesでRookie of the Year、つまり新人賞にも輝いています。
